1. Picnic in the Park
To some a picnic may sound a little cheesy, and maybe it is, but man I love a good picnic with Daarik (and it’s something you can do with your girlfriends too). It isn’t something we do often- at all, but when we do, it’s amazing! I love being outside and having a fresh snack or small lunch (maybe a glass of wine). Just laying around not doing anything at all but maybe listening to some music, talking and spending quality time away from the phone and any other distractions! Try it!
2. Dinner and Drinks on a Patio
This little date night has been mine and Daarik’s new go-to idea! We go one day during the week (usually Wednesday) and let me tell ya, it’s so refreshing. Having something to look forward to mid week makes the work week that much more enjoyable and exciting! It doesn’t have to be somewhere expensive so you don’t have to break the bank and you can even look out for restaurants happy hours around you and hit those spots! If we’re feeling a little crazy we’ll try going to a small city around us that we’ve heard about and we’ve found some amazing new restaurants that way- always fun!
3. Go for a Hike
Who want to get hot and sweaty for date night?? Ummm 🙋🏻🙋🏻… This girl, maybe not every week but some! Everyone is different so this date idea may not be at the top of your list, but that’s okay. And if there’s some other type of activity do that instead. The thing about a date night is that it doesn’t have to be the same every week, switch it up and try new exciting things that you all can enjoy together. I think if you pick the same spot and outing every week, you’re going to get bored of it and you’ll fall into a routine (which is what I did before Daarik and I started doing weekly dates).
4. Spend the day by the Pool/Lake
Again, another more laid back outing.. It’s summer, it’s hot out, I bet like me, some of you have already purchased new bathing suits…
wear rock them!!! This is the perfect date to spend with some of your favorite couples too (or friends), date night doesn’t just have to be limited to two people! And lucky for us, Daarik’s mom and step dad have a pool so we get to enjoy that, of course not everyone has a pool or knows someone with a pool but that’s what the lake is for or the public pool (as long as you don’t mind hanging around other people, a pool’s a pool, right?)! If you aren’t a pool person at all, then instead go on a shopping date- these are always a good time… I mean it’s shopping. Lucky for me I married a man who doesn’t mind to shop at all!!
5. Go to a Festival
Most cities have a few (or more) festivals a year and if you’ve never attended, at least try it out once, you may love it! It’s just one of those things that if you try it at least once and hate it, you never have to go again. It’s like trying a new food, how do you know you don’t like it until you try it!? If this is something you just are not at all interested in then maybe instead go to a pro sporting event, they’re so much fun! Daarik and I have gone to baseball games and we went to see team USA play soccer and it was a blast!
It may sound crazy that Daarik and I go on dates because we have no children (apart from our sweet Teddy Ferguson) but just calling it a date night makes it so much better. Get all cute, dress up, fix your hair orrrrr put your favorite workout gear on, throw your hair in a bun and go! As long as you’re with the one(s) you want to be with you are guaranteed to have an amazing time!
